A boy and his dog...does anything else need to be said?
It isn't something we planned 8 years ago when we bought our dog. That one day our dog would get sick and we might have to make the heart wrenching decision to let him go. What will we tell our children when they ask why he didn't come home from the vet? That's the question we're asking ourselves these days. Our dog is sick, and we are spending bundles of money on vet bills trying to slow the progression of his disease and extend his life. People who don't understand, ask us why?
A boy and his dog...isn't that reason enough.
life has many lessons to learn. If your kids are old enough to know that death exists, then you should tell them what's going to happen. it's ok if they say goodbye, cry and cry some more. Dogs the size of yours are only expected to live 8-10 years. You could spend your life savings on this and then some other age progression problem could come along too.
ReplyDeleteAh. I'm sorry your dog is sick. I hate that for Rio. It's the same with Shay. She loves her cat Atti. I dread the day something happens to that cat. One, I love her. I love both of my cats dearly but two and most importantly because Shay loves her so much. :(
