Butter
I've been making some positive life changes. Most recently I've sworn off sugar. The downside of cutting out sugar is that I've replaced it with butter.
"We use a lot of butter. Have you noticed?" My husband inquired.
I shrugged my shoulders indifferent to his observation.
"How many cubes of butter have you eaten today?" He asked, confirming he was implying I have a problem.
"Um...I don't know...three?" I answered.
"Maybe we shouldn't buy butter in bulk," he suggested. "What do you think?"
"Nonsense!" I dismissed his absurd suggestion.
I really don't see the problem. It's my belief, that if you pair butter with an artichoke, it cancels out the butter. This logic can also be applied to salmon, asparagus, shrimp, crab, lobster, baked potatoes and popcorn.
Clearly, I'm in denial.

Your husband sounds like mine. At least they care.
ReplyDeleteI would need more than butter to eat an artichoke. lol
ReplyDeleteVegetables cancel out butter. Everyone knows that. Whole wheat bread does too. And if you make banana bread, that's totally healthy no matter what else you put in it. It's FRUIT.
ReplyDeleteI don't think you should have to count butter. When I think about the calories on a piece of toast, I never count the butter...or the jam for that matter...and maybe not the hot chocolate to dunk it in...

You can take 1 cup of softened butter and blend with 1 cup of olive oil. It makes a nice spread and it's good for you.
ReplyDeleteAnd on special occasions, all calories are canceled out by the alignment of the planets - which is why eating birthday cake on your birthday is actually calorie-free! It's a day of freedom for calories! FREEDOM!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm still voting for you everyday on the TOP 25 list!
Anonymous said...Butter yum...artichoke yum....after a week of calorie counting...everything everything sounds yum...my weakness is definitly sugar...
ReplyDeleteOh, no! That's hilarious. But, I like the way you think ~ :) Of course, if you eat sugar with fruit...does the same thing apply?
ReplyDeleteAgreed! :)
ReplyDeleteUse tiny chunks of it. Like breaking a part a cookie. The little chunks are less calories, so you can have a lot more of them!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog and deciding to stay for a while! I'm thinking yours is lots of fun!
ReplyDeleteSandy
I like your thinking. I would feel the same way.
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by and following www.ourmonkeylife.com I am here to return the favor.
At least you don't try and use fake butter! My husband tries to sneak in some I Can't Believe It's Not Butter on me at least once a month. Trust me...I know the difference. I am a firm believer in the Real Butter Diet...lol New GFC follower here. Thanks for stopping by The Steady Hand.
ReplyDeleteAt least you aren't using too much butter AND sugar like I am!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog earlier! I am now your newest follower! :)

You gave up sugar?? I could never!I could give up almost anything but sugar. You see I need coffee to get my day going. But I only like coffee with fancy cream, which has sugar. See the problem?
ReplyDeleteI love the picture on your header! Thanks for stopping by my blog, I'm a follower too.
Giving up sugar is commendable, and it makes absolute sense to substitute it with butter. Absolutely.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog -- read a few posts of yours and loving it!

Yum, I love artichokes, although it's so much work for so little food. Maybe that's a good thing though. :) We go through a lot of butter in this house as well, but it's all in the cookies that I make constantly. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by from the blog hop to say hi. I'm now following you as well.
Ok, let me see if I understand this - butter is okay because of the vegetables you eat it with? I completely understand and agree with that.
ReplyDeleteBut... wouldn't that work with sugar too? Chocolate specifically - chocolate+MILK, chocolate+STRAWBERRIES?
:)
I like that you think the way I do! I am here to return the visit and the follow that you gave to me today! I am happy to meet you...thanks for stopping by today!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree but my husband agrees with yours though and says butter has to go.
ReplyDeleteBut there are so many worse garnishes out there! I suppose you can always do the carb-smart, low-fat margarine if you really want to make an effort. I couldn't imagine a world without butter; nothing goes better with artichokes than it and garlic!
ReplyDelete(Plus the garlic is a natural anti-biotic so win!)

Thank you for finding and following my blog...I am now following you back....and butter is amazing...I like the artichoke cancelling out the butter calories...isn't it a common known fact that once you slice / cut a piece of butter off the block the calories escape anyway? That's what I've been believing...especially where chocolate is concerned. haha.
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend.
I think denial happens to all of us from time to time. I have never had artichoke. Maybe this is something I need to try.
